—Men’s Fight, Faggot Fight, Class Fight.
During their second (and final) year political disagreements emerged within Röda Bögar (Red Faggots), a Swedish independent branch of the leftist Gay Liberation Front active during the late 70s. The arguments between the two fractions, the feminists and the revolutionaries, were connected to a banner stating “Manskamp, Bögkamp, Klasskamp (Men’s Fight, Faggot Fight, Class Fight)”. The words themselves did not trigger the rupture; instead it was the use of the color pink that led up to the organizations disintegration. Pink Banner/Red Faggots consists of two parts, the banner Gradient and the artist book A Year of Dissonance, that highlights the moment where a political agenda was suspended seemingly just about a question of aesthetics and the connotations of a color.
